PON And LOS LED Indicator On Fiberall Optical Network Unit

There are many LED indicators on the back panel of Fiberall ONU like PON, LOS, RUN, Power, Reset, LAN and so on. And we can see there are two special indicators, PON and LOS. So how they work and what status they stand for?

PON stand for the link status of the fiber connection between ONU and OLT . If the PON light is off, means that the fiber is disconnected and user has to check with the network service provide. If the PON light is on, means the connection is normal. Another situation is twinkle, but it does not happen often and you can see it when the power is connected or when the operator is setting parameter after installation.

LOS light means if the ONU receiving data normally. And we need to judge the working condition with the PON light. If the LOS light is on but PON light is off , means the the fiber line is disconnected. If the LOS light is off and PON light flick occasionally, means the connection is on good condition. If the LOS is off as well as the PON, means the OLT is in trouble though the management system of PON show that OLT is ok. If the POS is off but PON is twinkle, means registration is undergoing.

But if the PON light go off after bright for 5 seconds and the LOS also go off, if the situation happen repeatly , the uplink fiber may be wrong so it can not finish the registration or the OLT data error. ( means that the provider have not open the service for the user )

If the PON light keeps twinkle, means the optical power is excess the limit and need to splice the fiber or install the connector again. Or register again.
