FA-EONU8080 ( 1GE+3FE+2POTS+WIFI ) is an EPON user terminal, which meets the SOHO broadband access ,FTTH broadband speed ,FFTH/FTTD of cable-television operator. The equipment based on mature, stable, cost-effective Gigabit EPON technology combines Gigabit Ethernet switching technology, WIFI and high-quality VoIP technology. It has high reliability, ease of administration and good QOS. The technology performance meets the IEEE802.3ah, China Telecom EPON equipment technical requirements (V2.1) specification requirements.

What is POTS and what it is for?

In some type of Fiberall ONU / OLT, there is POTS. What is POTS and what it is for?

POTS is the short form of Plain Old Telephone Service. It is a analog telephone service, similar to a narrow strip of telecommunications, used to transmit voice calls.

Though POTS is old, but now it is still the basic form of telephone services for households and small businesses and it still exists in almost everywhere of the world. At first, the old - fashioned telephone service was called post office telephone service in many countries. Since then, although electronic telephone exchange has been introduced to the public switched network from the middle of twentieth Century, but for common users, there is no change after it is applied to the telephone system from nineteenth Century.

Plain old telephone service (POTS) refers to the standard telephone service used by most households. It still have many users in nowadays. But the telephone service which is based on high speed, digital communication lines, such as ISDN, DSL and FDDI are not in the category of POTS. The main difference between POTS and non POTS services is speed and bandwidth. In general, the speed limit of POTS is 52Kbps (52000bits/s). But some new digital communication lines, such as asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) and integrated services digital network (ISDN) , they provide small part of the channel for old telephone service (POTS) only but provide most bandwidth for digital data transmission.

Anyway, in order to bring convenience to POTS users, Fiberall still keep the POTS function in our OLT, ONU and ONT equipments.
