FA-PLCA1×4SU, ODN 1x4 ABS Package Fiber Optic PLC Splitter With Single Mode SC/UPC Connector
Passive optical network technology (PON) is one of the mainstream technologies of broadband access, especially it is the most competitive FTTH solutions and its unique advantage in broadband access application has been widespread attention at home and abroad, now already entered large-scale application. Over the past few decades, passive optical network (PON) technology has been developed from the original ATM passive optical network (APON) to broadband passive optical network (BPON), Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) and gigabit passive optical network (GPON) .
Similar to other passive optical network (PON) technology, gigabit passive optical network (GPON) is a kind of passive optical access technology using one point to multi-points topology, it is consisted of OLT (optical line terminal, office), ONU (optical network unit, user) and ODN ( optical distribution network).
Optical line terminal (OLT): OLT is an important local end device of passive optical network (PON) technology. It can connect to the front end (converging layer) switch to achieve photoelectric conversion. It uses single optical fiber to interconnect with the fiber optic PLC splitter at user’s side, and sends Ethernet data to the optical network unit (ONU) in broadcast mode, so as to control, manage and locate the optical network unit (ONU) of the user end. Like optical network unit (ONU), optical line terminal (OLT) is also a photoelectric unit.
The optical distribution network (ODN): from the network structure, optical distribution network is consisted by feeder optical fiber, fiber optic PLC splitter and branch cable, and they are composed respectively by different passive optical devices, these passive devices mainly include: fiber optic cable, PLC optical splitter, optical fiber connector, optical fiber distribution box and so on, wherein the optical fiber distribution box including fiber optic patch panel (ODF), fiber splice joint closure, fiber terminal boxes and fiber optic PLC splitter box etc.. Fiber optic PLC splitter is one of the most important optical devices in optical distribution network (ODN). According to the principle of light splitting, the optical splitter can be divided into two types: fused tapered optical splitter (FBT) and planar waveguide optical splitter (PLC).
Optical network unit (ONU): ONU is a terminal device for optical fiber access, which is connected to a user's router through a LAN / Ethernet network. The main function of the optical network unit (ONU) is to convert the optical signal into an electrical signal, and then send it to the terminal device, so there are multiple Ethernet ports.
