1000BASE - T SGMII Copper Sfp Optical Module With RJ45 For Gigabit Ethernet Switch
SGMII is the short form of Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface. It is a type of interface between PHY and MAC, it is similar to GMII and RGMII but GMII and RGMII are parallel and they need routing clock, the PCB wiring is complicated and do not and do not suitable for backplane use. SGMII is serial so there is no need to provide other clock. MAC and PHY need CDR to recover the clock. Otherwise, SGMII is with 8B/10b code and the speed rate is 1.25Gbps.
SGMII is a serial Gigabit media independent interface, it provide full duplex BASE-T function with rate of 10/100/1000 Mbps.
SFP SGMII and SFP are very different, as for SFP SGMII, 100M rate can be used on Gigabit SFP port, but the ordinary SFP cannot, such differences will bring convenience for network upgrade to customers.
RJ45 plug in gigabit Ethernet switch is a internal interface, to connect the two gigabit Ethernet switches, it only needs one Cat5e or Cat6 LAN cable. And SFP slot in gigabit Ethernet switch complies 1000BASE-T(IEEE 802.3ab)standard and its data rate can reach 1000 Mbps. Unlike the RJ45 interface above, the SFP slot should insert SFP transceiver first then can use LAN cable ( Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6) to transmit data. And the SFP slot is with auto negotiation in data center and LAN and so on.
