HLSG-600 Super Mixing Granulator
1. Overview

HLSG-series super mixing granulator is a new generation of granulating equipment recently developed by our company, which can finish the procedures of mixing, wetting, granulating one time, with effective granulation, in compliance with GMP standard.
This machine collects the light source, power supply and pneumatic source in one. It employs several advanced techniques such as Siemens PLC control, human machine interface, touch screen display, stepless frequency converter, photo-electricity monitor and control. At the same time, we add our creative designs of adhesive feeding device in different ways such as dripping, automatic safety protection device, jacket heating and temperature control system into this machine. Therefore, it gets such advantages as multiple functions, high automatic degree, saved usage of adhesive, short time for granulating, high-quality of finished granules. This machine can mix different kinds of powders or paste materials and make them into small solid granules with uniform size and high pelletized ratio, which is suitable for mixing granulation in such industries as pharmacy, food, chemicals and metallurgy, especially for the mixing granulation of Chinese medical extract or herbal powder, solving the technical problem of turning the Chinese herbal medicine into patent medicine. After putting into market, the reflection from user is good.
2. Performance and Characteristics
It adopts Siemens PLC micro-computer control, human machine interface and touch screen to display the operations. The temperature, operating time, speed and formula are input to micro-computer and auto-controlled according to procedures, easy to operate with high automatic degree.
Add a set of V shape cutters on the basis of traditional straight shank cutter so that the cutters can action in both horizontal and vertical directions in material cutting process, which can reduce the granulating time. Cooperating with the unique mixing paddle of this machine, it’s helpful to scrape away the attachment inner container to reduce the material sedimentation around container in-wall & at bottom and the collision to in-wall, at the same time, improve granulating efficiency and pelletized ratio, reduce the fine powder content below 8%. It adopts jacketed pot technique, which can heat or cool the material as required. The temperature in tank can be regulated by micro-computer automatically with temperature departure less than ±20C.
Provide the dripping device together with this machine. The adhesive addition can adopt dripping or direct mixing ways according to different requirements for different medicines, which can save around 20% consumption of adhesive, good effect of mixing granulation.
The safety protection device is complete and reliable. When the pot cover is under opening status, the main machine can only be started to operate by password and can’t be started by other people so that ensure the safety of operators and machine. It can reserve vacuum feeding port at the part of pot cover, at the same time, equip with dedusting unit and adhesive filling port. We can monitor the granulating status in different stages through the sight glass to realize the non-dust operation in granulating process.
The cutter and revolving shaft of mixing paddle adopt double composite technology of rubber gasket with oil and spiral with air to seal, which completely solve the big problem of shaft seal easy to fail. The shaft seal is made into pulling type and can be dismounted, easy to maintain.
The mixing and granulating can be finished with one step, increasing the efficiency 4-5 times. The finished granules are solid with uniform size and high pelletized ratio. The granule size and bulk density can be adjusted optionally, suitable for the mixing granulation of Chinese herbal powders with big difference between chief herb and ingredients, Chinese medical extract, achieving good result.
3. Working Principle
This machine consists of machine frame, double-layered pot, pot cover, mixing paddle, cutter, material outlet, feeding device, flying cutter revolving, mixer revolving, heating or cooling system and automatic control system.
This machine uses the jacketed pot as material container, mixing movement and cutters revolving as power. After starting the machine, use the mixing paddle to mix the materials with setting revolution speed; then add the adhesive through feeding device to make it mix with materials to become granules in short time; next cut them into satisfactory granules by the high-speed revolving cutters; at last open the outlet to discharge the finished products from jacketed pot. We can get the final granules with different sizes via adjusting the revolution speed of mixing paddle and cutter.
4. Main Structures and Functions
1. Machine frame
It’s made by the welding angle steel and plate steel, covered by stainless steel on the surface. The main function of machine frame is supporting each assembly unit. There are mixing motor, mixing reducer and pneumatic components for pot cover moving up and down, turning forward and backward installed inside it.
2. Mixer revolving and jacketed pot
The power for mixer revolving is provided by a motor and the output shaft of reducer is mixing shaft. The mixing paddle is fixed on the mixing shaft by the screw nut. The motor and reducer are installed under the machine bedplate while the jacketed pot above the bedplate. There is dismountable or seal assembly installed between mixing shaft and jacketed pot.
3. Cutting mechanism
The cutting mechanism functions through a motor and the cutter shaft linked with the motor shaft revolving. The cutters in the pot are revolving with high speed to keep cutting the material into granules. There is seal assembly installed between cutter shaft and motor base.
4. Pot cover
The pot cover is a stainless steel cover, like the head of pressure vessel. It has T shape silicone rubber seal under the pot cover. When the pot cover is pulled down by vertical column, it will be enclosed with pot frame. There are observation hole, thick liquid dripping hole and exhaust hole.
5. Discharge door
The discharge door is installed on the top of one anti-revolving cylinder. When the air cylinder pushes forward, the clean air is ejected to the outlet by the air nozzle to clear away the particle at the discharge port, closing the discharge door smoothly. When the air cylinder draws back, the discharge door opens and the granules will be discharged from the outlet automatically under the driving of paddle blades.
6. Automatic lifting device of mixing paddle (as right picture showing)
Remark: no this device for machine lower than HLSG-100 model
The main feature of this device is lifting the mixing paddle installed on the spline shaft, which is connected with air cylinder by coupling, to realize the thorough washing at the bottom of granulating pot and we can observe the cleaning condition of the part covered by mixing paddle,which can eliminate the dead angle for cleaning pot to avoid the contamination with medicines in next procedure. So this device successfully solves the longtime difficult problem for cleaning the granulating pot.
Instruction: in the past production technology, the mixing paddle is fixed in the granulating pot, 0.5-1mm above pot bottom. When washing the pot, it can’t be cleaned off, which may cause contamination in next procedure. This is the longtime existing problem for super mixing granulator.

Machine features
1. The mix blade is liftable and adjusted in the touch screen,so when we do the cleaning, it is no need to uninstall the blade, also there is not any dead corner, the cleaning is easy and sufficient.
2. The discharge mouth is with the 45 degree angle of inclination, not the common 90 degree from others
3. There is human hole with observing light.
4. The handrail is detachable and movable. Normally the handrail from other manufacturer are welded and can’t be detachable.
5. The vaccum feedering can be installed on the equipment or put on the floor as per the room size.
6. The screen is made with several layers and thick, it won’t be broken, even an adult to stand on it is acceptable .It is intergal mesh, the mesh holes are uniform, so the air inlet is also uniform, which brings an eddy when drying and granulating.
