General Characteristics of Refractory cement Secar 71
SECAR® 71 is a versatile hydraulic binder with an alumina content of approximately 70%, which is designed to be used at temperatures in excess of1400°C.
SECAR® 71, a pure cement manufactured by the sintering process, contains only calcium aluminates. The high calcium aluminate content provides characteristics ideally suited for refractory applications where rapid hardening combined with excellent mechanical resistance and high temperature performance are required.
SECAR® 71 is the reference product for high technology deflocculated castable systems such as LCC, ULCC, shotcrete and pumpable refractories. Its controlled mineralogy gives the formulator great flexibility in castable design and also gives good
compatibility with micro silica.
Calcium aluminate cements do not release Calcium Hydroxide as a hydration product when used as the sole hydraulic compound in a formulation. This imparts good refractoriness and chemical resistance.

Packaging & Shelf Life
SECAR® 71 is available palletized in 50 lb bags, 100 lb bags or 3000 lb. super sacks.
SECAR® 71 packaging is designed to protect it from humidity. However, as with all hydraulic binders, it is recommended that SECAR® 71 not be placed outdoors or in direct contact with the ground. When correctly stored in dry conditions, the properties of SECAR® 71
will remain within specification limit for at least 6 months. In most cases, its properties will be retained for over a year.
