Basic principle: Under the influence of humid and impurity environments on electrical products, insulation leakage may occur between charged parts of different polarities or between charged parts and grounded metal. The generated arc can cause breakdown and short circuit to the electrical appliance, material corrosion due to discharge, and even lead to fire.
The leakage trace test is a destructive test conducted on insulation materials to simulate the above situation. The experiment is to apply a certain voltage and drop a specified volume of contaminated liquid (0.1% NH 4 CL) at a fixed height (35mm) for 30 seconds on the surface of a solid insulation material, between platinum electrodes of a specified size(2mm×5mm), to evaluate the tolerance of the solid insulation material surface under the combined action of an electric field and a contaminated medium, and to determine its relative tracking index (CT1) and resistance to tracking index (PT1).
