Forged Steel Pipe Cap

Forged steel pipe cap include socket weld cap and threaded cap, they are made by forged steels that conforms to ASME specification. The most commonly used forged stainless steel is SS304 and SS316. We also offer other forged stainless steel piping components such as A310, A321.

Two types of forged steel fittings are available in the similar dimension ranges, but their pressure ratings are different. Socket weld cap is available in class 300, 6000 and 9000, while threaded cap is class 3000 and 6000.

Threaded Pipe Cap Dimensions

Threaded Cap

Based on the different thread type, we divided threaded cap into NPT cap and BSP cap

NPT Cap

NPT refers to national pipe threaded which is conform to American standard ASME B1.20.1. NPT cap has tapered thread with 60 degree thread angle, its seal requires 2 turns of sealant.

BSP Cap

BSP threaded cap are British standard threaded fittings and can be further divided into BSPP cap and BSPT cap.

BSPP Cap is parallel threaded fittings and uses bonded seal rings to do the sealing. This type threaded fittings are most popular in the UK, Asia, South Africa and Europe.

BSPT cap is similar to NPT thread fittings that has tapered thread, but it thread angle is 55 degree which is different with NPT thread. Even through they are tapered thread, NPT threaded fittings cannot be connected with BSPT threaded fittings.

Socket weld cap has great mechanical performance and excellent leak-proof, it is the substitute for buttweld fittings in small diameter applications. It provides a good flow characteristics and suits for conveying flammable, toxic or expensive material.
