Summary
Optical splitter, also known as optical coupler, is one of the important passive components in fiber optic connections. It is a fiber-optic tandem device with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. The optical splitter can be divided into two types: the molten taper type (LZ) and the plane waveguide type (PLC type) according to the principle of splitting light. However, since the planar waveguide type can only be fabricated into 2 n-th power optical splitters, the FTTH cannot be satisfied. The specific needs, however, the combination of the tapered type and the planar waveguide type can be used to fabricate optical splitters of various specifications.
