Transmittance of Sapphire
Pure sapphire is a colorless and transparent crystal that transmits light continuously from the ultraviolet to the infrared. Since it has stable transmission characteristics especially in the infrared region, it is useful for devices and windows that use infrared light. In recent years, with the maturation of crystal growth technology, large ingots can be obtained.
Regarding the color of sapphire crystal
The main component of sapphire is alumina (Al2O3). The simple alumina single crystal is transparent and colorless, but it penetrates into the growing sapphire by different color elements, thus making the sapphire crystals different colors.
When artificially doped with iron ions (Fe3+) and titanium ions (Ti+), the crystals will appear blue sapphire (Blue Sapphire).
When the crystal is doped with iron (Fe3+) and cobalt (Co2+), vanadium (V3+) the crystal will appear green.

When the crystal contains chromium ions (Cr3+), the crystal will appear red and become to be Ruby.
When the crystal contains nickel ions (Ni3+), the crystal will appear yellow and become Yellow Sapphire.
