Fire resistant plasterboard, also known as fire-rated plasterboard, is a type of building material designed to prevent the spread of fire in buildings.
It is made by adding glass fibers, vermiculite, and other fire-resistant additives to the gypsum core of the plasterboard. This makes it much more resistant to fire than standard plasterboard.
Fire resistant plasterboard is used in areas where there is a high risk of fire, such as kitchens, boiler rooms, and electrical rooms. It is also used in ceilings and walls to help prevent the spread of fire from one area of a building to another.
There are different types of fire resistant plasterboard available, each with different levels of fire resistance. The most common types are classified as either Type X or Type C. Type X fire resistant plasterboard is designed to withstand fire for longer periods of time, while Type C is designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.
