Wave Generator is an elliptical-shaped cam, typically fitted with ball bearings, which is placed inside the flexspline. As it rotates, it causes the flexspline to deform into an elliptical shape.

Flexspline is a thin-walled, flexible cylindrical component with external teeth. It fits inside the circular spline and deforms into an elliptical shape due to the wave generator. The flexspline has fewer teeth than the circular spline.

Circular Spline This is a rigid circular ring with internal teeth that mesh with the external teeth of the flexspline.
