Corrosion Resistant AISI 317L Stainless Steel Light Rod S31703 Hot-Rolled Plate Hot-Rolled Rod
Introduction to 317L Stainless Steel:
317L stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel containing molybdenum. Compared with conventional chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel (such as alloy 304), 317L has better resistance to chemical corrosion. This alloy contains high levels of molybdenum and nitrogen, and the combination of molybdenum and nitrogen helps to improve pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, especially in high-temperature environments containing acidic compounds, chlorides, and sulfides. The "L" grade of 317L indicates that it is a low-carbon grade, which helps to provide anti sensitization during welding and other heat treatment processes.
The chemical composition of 317L stainless steel mainly includes chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), and iron (Fe). Specifically, the chemical composition of 317L stainless steel is as follows:
Cr | Ni | Mo | C | Si | Mn | P | S |
18.00~20.00% | 11.00~15.00% | 3.00~4.00% | ≤ 0.030% | ≤ 1.00% | ≤ 2.00% | ≤ 0.045% | ≤ 0.030% |
Chromium (Cr): 18.00~20.00%
Nickel (Ni): 11.00~15.00%
Molybdenum (Mo): 3.00~4.00%
Carbon (C): ≤ 0.030%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 1.00%
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 2.00%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.045%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.030%
These components give 317L stainless steel excellent corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for use in strong acid, strong alkali, and high temperature environments.
In addition, 317L stainless steel also has good intergranular corrosion resistance and is widely used in components such as butterfly valve shafts and butterfly valve bushings. Due to its high corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, 317L stainless steel is also commonly used in high corrosion resistant chemical equipment such as the chemical industry and ships.
The application areas of 317L stainless steel mainly include large-diameter butterfly valve components, chemical processing equipment, pulp and paper manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, petrochemical processing, heat exchanger, furnace components and boiler tube manufacturing, as well as tanks and containers for storing and transporting corrosive materials.
317L stainless steel is widely used in chemical equipment and pipelines due to its high corrosion resistance, high heat resistance, and applicability in high temperature, strong acid, and strong alkali environments. Its applications are not limited to these fields, but also include the aerospace and defense industries, thanks to its high strength, durability, and tolerance to extreme temperatures and environments. The low-carbon version of 317L stainless steel, also known as 317L stainless steel, has higher corrosion resistance and chemical resistance, making it an ideal choice for use in highly corrosive environments. In addition, compared with conventional stainless steel, 317L alloy has higher ductility, stress corrosion resistance, compressive strength, and high temperature resistance. At the same time, it exhibits good anti sensitization performance during welding and heat treatment.
