SR2 Basic Operation & Configurations
MC plate heat exchangers are one of the most versatile and cost-effective methods for the heating and / or cooling of fluids. The basic concept uses a corrugated heat transfer plate to separate the hot fluid from the cold and transfer the heat between the fluids.
The seal between the plates is established by a peripheral gasket which also separates the through ports and flow areas with a double barrier. The gasket either allows the fluid to flow down the plate channel or by-pass it to the adjacent plate channel as depicted in below picture.
MC plate heat exchangers can be used in a variety of different configurations. One of confuguration is closed circuit cooling, where the dirty cooling medium such as sea, river, lake to tower water is isolated at the plate heat exchanger and clean treated water is continually recirculated through the process plant. This configuration, as shown in below picture, protects process equipment from the dirty cooling fluid.

Gasket Information
Plate heat exchanger gasket is one of the important parts of plate heat exchanger, which can produce plastic deformation and have certain strength.
M&C's gaskets are customized to fit the customer's working conditions and are manufactured by a professional factory in a specified size.
The contact width between the high pressure gasket and the sealing surface is very narrow (line contact).
Sealing principle:
The corrugated plate is pasted with sealing gasket, which is designed to double seal structure and has signal hole.When the medium leaks from the first seal, it can leak out from the signal hole, and the problem can be detected and solved as soon as possible, without causing the mixing of the two media.Sealing gasket according to different media and operating temperature to choose different types of gaskets.
