CuNi34 NC040 CuNi Alloy wire with superior thermal conductivity for chemical applications
CuNi34 is a copper-nickel alloy containing 34% nickel. Known for its excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater, it is widely used in marine applications such as shipbuilding, offshore structures, and desalination plants. The alloy resists pitting, biofouling, and stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for harsh, saline environments.
CuNi34 also offers good mechanical properties, including strength, ductility, and toughness, while maintaining resistance to seawater corrosion. Although its electrical and thermal conductivity is lower than pure copper due to the nickel content, it is still suitable for heat exchangers and other systems exposed to aggressive conditions.
Common applications include pipes, tubes, and marine components, where its durability and long-term resistance to corrosion are critical. CuNi34 is a versatile and reliable material for industries dealing with seawater and corrosive environments, offering both longevity and performance.

Some key features of CuNi34 include:
Low Electrical Resistivity
High-Temperature Performance: With a maximum continuous operating temperature of 350°C, CuNi34 maintains its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures
Non-Magnetic: CuNi34 is non-magnetic, which is an advantage in applications where magnetic interference is a concern
Resistant to Biofouling: CuNi34 surfaces are resistant to marine biofouling, reducing the impact of biological growth and associated maintenance costs
Good Processability: The alloy is easy to form and weld, offering high flexibility in manufacturing complex shapes and structures
These features make CuNi34 an alloy of choice for demanding applications where corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and the ability to withstand harsh environments are critical.
Applications:
Marine Applications: CuNi34 is widely used in marine environments due to its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion. It is used for seawater cooling systems, bilge and ballast systems, sanitary systems, fire fighting systems, inert gas systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and chiller systems in shipbuilding and repair
Desalination Plants: In seawater desalination plants, CuNi34 is used for evaporator tubes and other components, as well as in the form of thin dimpled sheet for water chambers
Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms: Copper-nickel alloys like CuNi34 are used in offshore oil and gas platforms and floating production, storage, and offloading vessels (FPSOs)
Power Generation: CuNi34 pipes and components are utilized in steam turbine condensers, oil coolers, auxiliary cooling systems, and high-pressure pre-heaters at nuclear and fossil fuel power plants
Heat Exchangers and Condensers: Mechanical engineering employs iron-containing Cu-Ni alloys like CuNi34 for heat exchangers, steam condensers, air and oil coolers
Low-Voltage Electrical Products: CuNi34 is used in low-voltage circuit breakers, electric blankets, thermal overload relays, and other low-voltage electrical products due to its low resistivity and suitability for use at temperatures up to 350°C
Antimicrobial Surfaces: CuNi34 alloys have strong antimicrobial properties, making them suitable for use as hygienic "touch materials" to reduce cross-contamination and infections, particularly in hospital intensive care units
