  • Tolerance of ohm/m: ±5%
  • Round wire: range from 0.04mm (0.0016″) to 12mm (0.4724″)
  • Ribbon: range from 0.05mm (0.002″) to 6mm (0.2362″), Max ratio width : thickness = 10:1

Key Features of CuNi19 NC025 Wire:

  • Composition

CuNi19 (19% Nickel, 81% Copper): The nickel content provides increased strength, better wear resistance, and improved corrosion resistance, while copper maintains excellent electrical conductivity.

Additional Elements: May contain trace elements such as manganese, iron, or other minor elements to further improve material properties.

  • Good Mechanical Properties

CuNi19 NC025 wire offers high strength, good hardness, and ductility, which makes it suitable for both structural and electrical applications.

Tensile Strength: Provides a good balance of tensile strength and elongation for wire and cable manufacturing.

  • Corrosion Resistance

Resistant to Corrosion: The nickel content enhances its resistance to corrosion in harsh environments, such as seawater, atmospheric corrosion, and certain acids.

Seawater Resistance: CuNi alloys, like CuNi19, are particularly resistant to seawater corrosion, which makes them ideal for marine applications.

  • Electrical Conductivity

While not as high as pure copper, CuNi19 NC025 retains good electrical conductivity, making it suitable for electrical wiring, connectors, and conductive components in various electrical and electronic applications.

  • Thermal Conductivity

CuNi19 also has good thermal conductivity, although lower than pure copper, which allows for effective heat dissipation in certain applications.

  • Non-Magnetic Properties

CuNi19 NC025 is non-magnetic, making it ideal for use in applications where magnetic interference would be problematic, such as sensitive electronic equipment.

  • Workability

CuNi19 wire is easily machinable, weldable, and formable, allowing for a variety of uses in manufacturing and fabrication, especially in wire forms and electrical connectors.

  • Temperature Resistance

CuNi19 NC025 is capable of handling moderate temperatures. Its mechanical and electrical properties remain stable within its working temperature range, typically up to 200-250°C (392-482°F), depending on the specific application.

Applications

  • Marine Industry: Used in shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and seawater systems for its resistance to seawater corrosion.
  • Electrical Industry: Employed for power cables, wires, busbars, and electrical connectors where moderate conductivity is required.
  • Heat Exchangers and Cooling Systems: Often found in systems that operate in corrosive environments or high temperatures.
  • Chemical Processing: Used for piping, tubes, and components in chemical processing and petrochemical applications, where its resistance to corrosion is beneficial.
  • Automotive: Used in components requiring both strength and corrosion resistance, including electrical connectors and sensors.

Advantages of CuNi19 NC025 Wire:

  • Corrosion Resistance: Excellent performance in harsh environments, particularly in marine or saltwater applications.
  • Moderate Electrical Conductivity: Offers good conductivity, making it suitable for electrical wiring and connections.
  • Mechanical Strength: Good tensile strength and ductility for a variety of applications, including industrial and marine sectors.
  • Non-Magnetic: Ideal for sensitive electronics or applications where magnetic interference must be avoided.
  • Workability: Easy to fabricate, weld, and machine for use in custom designs.

Limitations:

  • Lower Electrical Conductivity: Compared to pure copper or other copper alloys like Cu-ETP, the electrical conductivity is lower, which limits its use in very high-performance electrical applications.
  • Cost: Copper-nickel alloys can be more expensive than pure copper, particularly when used in applications where high performance is not required.
  • Limited High-Temperature Use: Although it handles moderate temperatures well, CuNi19 NC025 is not suitable for extreme high-temperature applications compared to other alloys like nickel-based or stainless steel alloys.
