Key Features of CuNi30 NC035 Alloy Wire:

  • Composition:

Copper (Cu): ~70%

Nickel (Ni): ~30%

This balance provides a combination of excellent corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength.

  • Corrosion Resistance:

Outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, including pitting and crevice corrosion, making it ideal for marine environments.

Resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Performs well in chemical environments, offering resistance to mild acids and alkalis.

Exhibits high resistance to biofouling, reducing maintenance in marine applications.

  • Mechanical Properties:

High Strength and Durability: Excellent yield strength and toughness ensure resistance to mechanical stress and wear.

Work Hardening Capability: Can be strengthened through cold working processes for applications requiring higher strength.

  • Thermal and Electrical Conductivity:

Thermal Conductivity: Good thermal performance makes it suitable for heat exchangers and cooling systems.

Electrical Conductivity: While lower than pure copper, CuNi30 provides sufficient conductivity for applications requiring strength and corrosion resistance.

  • Non-Magnetic Properties:

CuNi30 is non-magnetic, making it suitable for sensitive applications where magnetic interference must be avoided.

  • Temperature Resilience:

Performs well in high-temperature environments, maintaining stability and strength up to approximately 300°C (572°F).

Excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations and extreme conditions.

  • Weldability and Fabrication:

The alloy is easily weldable, with minimal risk of hot cracking or other issues.

Good Formability: Can be fabricated into various forms, including wire, sheets, rods, and tubes.

Applications:

  • Marine Applications: Commonly used in heat exchangers, seawater piping systems, offshore equipment, and shipbuilding due to its resistance to seawater and biofouling.
  • Chemical Processing: Ideal for use in chemical plants, desalination equipment, and pressure vessels exposed to aggressive environments.
  • Electrical Components: Used in electrical connectors, terminals, and resistance wires where corrosion resistance and durability are required.
  • Automotive and Aerospace: Found in components like cooling systems, brake lines, and high-performance parts where strength and corrosion resistance are critical.
  • Industrial Heat Exchangers: Suitable for high-stress and high-temperature environments in oil refineries, power plants, and other industries.

Resistance to Biofouling:

  • Naturally resists marine organism buildup, reducing maintenance needs and increasing the service life of equipment.

Advantages of CuNi30 NC035 Alloy Wire:

  • Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Performs well in seawater, chlorides, and other aggressive environments.
  • High Strength and Toughness: Can withstand mechanical stresses and demanding conditions.
  • Thermal Stability: Suitable for applications with high temperatures or temperature fluctuations.
  • Non-Magnetic: Useful in applications requiring materials free from magnetic interference.
  • Low Maintenance: Biofouling resistance reduces cleaning and upkeep in marine applications.
  • Versatile Applications: Widely used across marine, chemical, and industrial sectors.

Limitations:

  • Cost: Higher nickel content makes it more expensive compared to alloys with lower nickel percentages or pure copper.
  • Lower Electrical Conductivity: Its conductivity is lower than pure copper, which may limit its use in highly conductive electrical applications.
  • Weight: Slightly heavier than some other materials, which may be a consideration in certain applications.
