Description

Experience Unmatched Performance with CuNi Alloy Wire CuNi14 NC020 The Perfect Choice for Your Applications

CuNi14 is a copper-nickel alloy containing approximately 14% nickel, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability. This alloy is specifically designed for demanding environments, particularly in marine and industrial applications where durability, reliability, and resistance to harsh conditions are critical.

CuNi14 consists of 86% copper and 14% nickel, with trace elements often added to enhance specific properties such as wear resistance and mechanical stability. The higher nickel content significantly boosts its resistance to corrosion, especially in seawater, and provides improved strength and hardness compared to lower nickel-content copper alloys.

Main physical properties:

Max continuous operating temperature ℃ 300
Resistance temperature coefficient x 10-5/℃(20℃-600℃) <38
Thermovoltage to copper at 20℃ in μV/K -28
Thermal expansion coefficient ×10-6/K(20℃-400℃) 17.5
Thermal conductance at 20℃ W/mK 48
Specific heat capacity at 20℃ J/gK 0.38

Some key features of CuNi14 include:

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance:
    • Exceptional resistance to seawater corrosion, biofouling, and stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for marine applications.
  • Enhanced Mechanical Properties:
    • Higher strength and toughness compared to pure copper, with excellent resistance to wear and deformation.
  • Thermal and Electrical Conductivity:
    • Offers moderate thermal conductivity and good electrical conductivity, suitable for applications requiring efficient heat and electrical transfer.
  • Non-Magnetic:
    • Non-magnetic properties ensure it is suitable for applications requiring minimal magnetic interference, such as precision instruments and electronics.
  • Ductility and Machinability:
    • Excellent workability allows easy fabrication into wires, tubes, and complex shapes for various applications.

Applications:

  1. Marine and Offshore Industries:
    • Widely used in seawater piping systems, heat exchangers, condenser tubes, and shipbuilding due to its resistance to saltwater and biofouling.
  2. Industrial Heat Transfer Equipment:
    • Ideal for heat exchangers, condensers, and cooling systems in power plants and chemical processing industries.
  3. Electrical Components:
    • Used in resistors, connectors, and other components where a balance of electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance is needed.
  4. Automotive and Aerospace Applications:
    • Found in brake systems, fuel lines, and hydraulic systems, where resistance to high temperatures and corrosion is essential.
  5. Architectural and Decorative Uses:
    • Often used for cladding, roofing, and decorative elements in coastal environments due to its aesthetic appeal and resistance to tarnishing.

CuNi14 combines excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical durability, and thermal stability, making it a highly versatile material for use in marine, industrial, automotive, and architectural applications. Its balance of properties ensures long-lasting performance in challenging environments, particularly where exposure to seawater, high temperatures, or corrosive chemicals is prevalent.
