Incoloy 901 (UNS N09901 ) super alloy resist stress cracking and corrosion in sulphide environments
General Overview:
Incoloy 901 is precipitation hardened to achieve high strength. The addition of titanium and aluminum enhances its mechanical properties. This alloy exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion, especially at high temperatures. The chromium content helps in forming a protective oxide layer on the surface, which prevents further oxidation. It retains its strength and stability over a wide range of temperatures, making it suitable for high-temperature applications. It performs well at temperatures up to around 1100°F (593°C). Incoloy 901 can be easily fabricated using conventional machining and forming techniques. It can be welded using common welding methods.
Applications:
Due to its excellent high-temperature properties and resistance to oxidation and corrosion, Incoloy 901 is used in various demanding applications, including:
Aerospace: Components in gas turbines, such as turbine blades, discs, and other parts subjected to high temperatures and stress.
Power Generation: Steam turbines and other high-temperature components in power plants.
Industrial Gas Turbines: Various components exposed to high temperatures and oxidative environments.
Petrochemical and Chemical Processing: Equipment and components that operate in high-temperature, corrosive environments.
In summary, Incoloy 901 is a high-performance alloy designed to withstand extreme conditions, making it invaluable in industries that demand reliable materials for high-temperature and high-stress environments.
