The HLN Aquano 5K coolant heaters can reduce the engine friction during the engine’s normal operations. In the cold weathers, the engine lubricant temperature can be lower than the optimal operating temperature range. It is particularly true if your vehicle has to idle most of the time to wait for the next task. With the improvement in efficiency of the modern engines, residual heat from the combustion reduces. Together with the low temperature environment and reduced load, the coolant / lubricant temperature can drop to below 60°C. If it happens, the viscosity of the lubricant would increase significantly compared to if it were operating at 90°C. As a result, more fuel would be consumed to keep the engine running.
