What are the classifications of Zirconia metering nozzle?
The Zirconia metering nozzle is a functional refractory material for continuous casting of billets smaller than 120mm to control the flow of molten steel. Because the size of the billet is too small, both the shroud and the immersion nozzle are not applicable. The Zirconia metering nozzle is used for open casting in the tundish-bar-less casting system of the billet continuous caster. The injection speed of the steel billet is only adjusted by the Zirconia metering nozzle. During the entire casting process, the hole diameter must be kept constant to ensure a stable drawing speed. Therefore, the Zirconia metering nozzle must be safe and reliable during use, except for blocking, cracking, and falling off. In addition, the aperture of the nozzle requires a small reaming speed. To meet the above requirements, the nozzle material needs to have good erosion resistance, erosion resistance and thermal shock resistance. Therefore, the high-grade corrosion-resistant ZrO2 material must be used.
(1) Fully homogeneous Zirconia metering nozzle: The nozzle is all composed of ZrO2 (60%~95%) materials. Research shows that the higher the content of ZrO2, the stronger the nozzle’s corrosion resistance, the longer the service life, and the higher the cost; It is characterized by uniform chemical composition, good integrity, high strength, corrosion resistance, long service life, safety and reliability, but high production cost.
(2) Composite Zirconia metering nozzle: The body is made of low-zirconium material, mostly zircon-based materials, and the composite body is high-zirconia material. The two are directly compounded together, formed at one time, and fired together. The amount of ZrO2 is greatly reduced compared with full homogenization, the production cost is lower, the strength is large, and the corrosion resistance is good. However, due to the difference in the content of zirconia in the inner and outer layers, the linear expansion coefficient of the material differs greatly, and cracks during use It is more likely that the zirconia content of the inner layer should not be too high, often in the range of 70% ~ 80%.
(3) Inlaid Zirconia metering nozzle: The inlaid Zirconia metering nozzle is divided into two parts: outer shell and inner core, which are respectively made and bonded together with refractory mud; the nozzle body is generally made of high aluminum material; the inner core is made of zirconia. This nozzle has low production cost and good thermal shock resistance. The content of zirconia can be produced according to different requirements, so the product has a high cost performance and a large amount of use.
