Functions and Features

The U401 board supports the mixed transmission of OTN, SDH and packet services. It supports Layer 2 switching, MPLS-TP, and OTN interfaces.

The U401 board can work in either line mode or relay mode. The board supports ODUk, packet services and VC-4 services only when it works in line mode.

OTN functions
  • Supports OTU4 interface the WDM side.
  • Supports the OTN frame format and overhead processing defined in ITU-T G.709.
  • OTU4 layer: supports SM overhead processing.
  • ODUk (k=0, 1, 2, 2e, 3, 4, flex) layer: supports PM and TCM overhead processing, and non-intrusive monitoring of PM and TCM overheads.

Supports ITU-T G.694.1-compliant DWDM specifications.

Tunable wavelength function

Supports tunable wavelength optical modules that provide for 80 wavelengths tunable in the C band with 50 GHz channel spacing.

TNU4U401 Supports tunable wavelength optical modules that provide for 96 wavelengths tunable in the extended C band with 50 GHz channel spacing.

PRBS test function

Supports the PRBS function on the WDM side.

FEC coding

TNU2U401/TNU3U401: Supports SDFEC2 on the WDM side.

TNV2U401: Supports HFEC on the WDM side.

TNU4U401: Supports SDFEC2 and HFEC PLUS encoding.

NOTE:
Boards that use different FEC modes cannot interconnect with each other.
Alarms and performance events monitoring
  • Monitors BIP8 bytes (Bursty mode) to help locate line failures.
  • Monitors parameters such as the bias current, temperature, and optical power of the laser.
  • Monitors OTN alarms and performance events.
Regeneration board

The WDM-side signals from an U401 board can be regenerated by another U401, N401, N402, LTX board or an NS4 board of the same type. For example,

  • The type of the TNU2U401T51 board is T51, and the TNU2U401T51 board can be regenerated by other U401, N401, N402, LTX, NS4 boards of the T51 type, such as TNU3U401T51, TNU2U401T51, TNU2N401T51, TNU2N402T51, TN15LTXT51, TN17LTXT51 TN57NS4T51.
