Pressure differential precooling is an efficient precooling method. The method is to add a blower in the cold storage room, and use the blower to generate high-speed forced flow of cold air into the vegetable packaging box, forming a pressure difference on both sides of the packaging box, so that the cold air enters the packaging box from the ventilation hole on one side of the packaging box. After contact, it comes out from the ventilation hole on the other side, and at the same time takes away the heat in the box. Its advantages are simple equipment, low energy consumption, fast cooling speed, usually only 2 to 4 hours, and it is suitable for most agricultural products;

Pressure difference cooler is also named as force air cooler. It is widely applied in cooling fruit, vegetable and fresh cut flowers. The method is to force cold air flow through boxes or pallets to realize heat exchange between cold air and products.

The principle is pressure difference at both sides of boxes and pallets caused by ban which drive cold air come into boxes from one side and contact with products, then come out at other side, so as to take away heats in boxes.

1. Can leafy vegetables use a differential pressure cooler (forced air cooler)?

• Generally not recommended, strong flowing air can easily cause the vegetables to lose water and wilt.

2. How long does the pre-cooling time take?

• The time is different for different agricultural products. Chunky produce takes 3-4 hours, and small ones about 2 hours.

3. Can the forced air cooler be mobile?

• Yes, 4 or 6 pallets can be made according to the needs. Can be moved with a forklift or on wheels.

4. Does the forced air pre-cooler need to be installed in a cold storage room?

• It is recommended to put it in a cold storage room to cool down product faster. It can be placed in a container or in a room, and a refrigeration unit needs to be added to lower the room temperature.
