A counterbalance valve, also known as a load-holding valve or backpressure valve, is a type of hydraulic valve used to control the movement and stability of a load in a hydraulic system. It is specifically designed to hold a load in position and prevent it from free-falling or drifting due to gravitational forces or external loads.

Overcentre valves act as check valves by controlling the oil flow of hydraulic actuators. In this way, they ensure smooth, jerk-free movement and safe holding of loads. The integrated pressure relief function protects the actuator from overload and pressure spikes, ensuring long service life and optimum performance
