Air Spring
The spring coefficient of the air spring has nonlinear characteristics. That is to say, its coefficient of elasticity is variable and adjustable. In addition, such springs are less prone to resonance effects.
According to Boyle's law that general gases follow: that is, at a certain temperature, the pressure of the gas is inversely proportional to the volume; in simple terms, when the volume of the gas is compressed to half, the internal gas pressure (strength) will double.
Utilizing this feature, when a heavy object is loaded on the air spring, the gas volume compressed downward by its weight will turn into an upward supporting elastic force. In normal times, this spring is set to a softer elastic coefficient; and when more heavy objects are loaded, the compressed gas can also provide a greater upward supporting force, and it is not easy to feel any decline in its elastic force. Also, air springs absorb many small rebound shocks better than traditional metal springs. Therefore, passengers can feel a more comfortable ride; fragile goods are less likely to be damaged by rough roads.
Air Suspension
Air Suspension is a type of automotive suspension that uses air springs instead of conventional steel springs.Computer operated vents on the air springs, suspension sensors, and an onboard air compressor allow the system to maintain ride height and vary the suspension's ride characteristics.
