The Σ-II Series SGDH SERVOPACK drive module SGDH-05AE is a servo amp manufactured by Yaskawa for use with applicable servo motor modules. The SGDH-05AE module is a three-phase 200 V SERVOPACK module that can be used in areas such as CNC machining, robotics, and automation as well as other areas.
Power supply and power losses for the Yaskawa servo pack SGDH-05AE
The Yaskawa SGDH-05AE module is a three-phase 200 V SERVOPACK unit that has an AC Input three-phase 200-230 V 50 / 60 Hz 4 A unit. The AC output for this unit is 3 phase 0- 230 V, 0- 300 Hz, 3.8 A., and 0.5 kW. The ambient operating temperature for this drive unit is 0-55°
The main circuit power loss rating for the three-phase 200 V drive module is 27 W with a total power loss rating of 54 W.
The front top right of the Yaskawa SGDH-05AE drive unit is a CN5 analog monitor connector. Located beneath the CN5 analog monitor connector is the panel display. The Servo pack’s panel display is a 5-digit, 7-segment LED. The panel display is used to display several aspects of SERVOPACK SGDH-05AE. It displays status, alarm status, and other values when parameters are input. The panel display is located within the panel operator which also contains the panel keys which is used to set parameters.
The two indicators located beneath the panel operator are the charge indicator and the power ON indicator. The charge indicator lights when the main circuit power supply is on. It continues to remain ON as long as the main circuit power supply capacitor keeps a charge. Be aware that the power supply may be disconnected while the charge remains within the unit. Touching the Yaskawa SERVOPACK SGDH-05AE drive unit is hazardous as long as the charge indicator is ON.
The regenerative resistor module can work with the SGDH-05AE SERVOPACK. The regenerative resistor is either internally mounted or externally mounted to the Yaskawa SGDH-05AE module.
Power returning to the servo amp side when the servo motor operates in generator mode is described as regenerative power. How is the regenerative power is absorbed? It is absorbed by charging the smoothing capacitor. In the case when the capacitor has exceeded its charging limit, the regenerative resistor reduces the regenerative power.
What are the conditions in which the Yaskawa servo motor is driven in regeneration mode? The three areas are:
-Decelerating to stop during acceleration/deceleration process
-With load on vertical axis
-During continuous operation with the servo motor driven from the load side
The built-in regenerative resistor on the servo amp is only used for a short-term operation like the deceleration stop period. It is unable to be operated under a negative load. An external regenerative resistor should be installed when the regenerative power is too great for the processing capacity of the servo amp.
