About Brake Disc
The design of scribing / punching is to take away the brake dust (sometimes soil and rain) faster during braking, and reduce the "air cavity phenomenon" at the moment of contact between the brake pad and the brake disc at the initial stage of braking, so as to improve the braking efficiency, sensitivity and reliability. Different scribing / punching patterns will have different effects / effects on their friction characteristics. The differences are: the whole braking friction performance, the invasiveness to the brake pad and brake disc itself, the characteristics when releasing the brake pedal (i.e. the caliper piston stops applying pressure to the brake pad / brake disc), and the foot feeling. Therefore, after meeting the physical size requirements of the vehicle / caliper, the choice of its grain is actually diverse, which is mainly matched according to the needs of the driver / vehicle.
The ventilation groove design, grain / perforation design and positioning of the brake disc are precision designed, using qualified raw materials, rigorous processing to ensure strength, considering better heat dissipation and heat dispersion stability, so as to improve braking efficiency and durability
If there is only slight rust, it can be removed by continuous braking during driving. Because the disc brake is braked by the friction between the brake caliper and the brake pad, the rust can be removed by repeated braking. Of course, the premise is to be in a safe road section.
The above "polishing" method can be adopted for slight rust, but it is not applicable for serious rust. Because the rust is too stubborn, the brake pedal and steering wheel will shake obviously during braking, which can not be "polished", but also accelerate the wear of brake pads. Therefore, in this case, it is best to find professional maintenance personnel to remove the brake disc for grinding and clean the rust.
However, if the rust is particularly serious, even a professional repair shop can't do anything, so we can only change a brake disc. Therefore, if the vehicle is often placed, the owner had better maintain the brake disc every two months to avoid serious corrosion of the brake disc, and it is also convenient to drive on the road at any time.
When to replace the brake disc depends on many factors. Generally speaking, the service life of the brake disc is much longer. As long as there is no abnormal noise and jitter when braking, it is not a dream to use 100000 km. There are even and smooth marks on the surface of the normal brake disc. Sometimes there is a large area of rust on the brake disc after rain, which is also a normal phenomenon. But if the brake is abnormal and a new brake pad is not solved, you have to check the brake disc. Little wear and tear, can be "repaired and renovated". This is a fine technical work. If it is not repaired well, it can only aggravate the jitter. If the wear is too large, it has to "change the disc".
