Overview
The DM542 is a new generation high-performance digital stepper driver based on DSP with an advanced control algorithm. The motors driven by DM542 can run with much smaller noise and much less vibration than other drivers in the market. The DM542 possesses the feature of lower noise, lower vibration, and lower heating. The DM542’s voltage is DC 20V-50V. It is suitable for all the 2-phase hybrid stepper motors whose current is less than 4.20A. There are 15 kinds of micro step of DM542. The maximum step number of DM542 is 25600steps/rev (microstep is 1/128 ). Its current range is 1.0A-4.20A, and its output current has 8 stalls. DM542 has automatic semi-flow, over-voltage, under voltage, and over-current protection functions.

What are stepper motors and stepper drives?
Stepper motor is a special motor specially used for precise control of speed and position. It runs step by step at a fixed angle (called "step angle"), so it is called stepper motor. Its characteristic is that there is no accumulated error. It receives every pulse signal from the controller, and the motor runs at a fixed angle under the drive of the driver, so it is widely used in various open loop control.
The stepper driver is a power amplifier that can make the stepper motor run. It can convert the pulse signal sent by the controller into the power signal of the stepper motor. The speed of the motor is proportional to the pulse frequency, so the control pulse frequency can be adjusted accurately. Accurate positioning can be achieved by controlling the number of pulses.
What is driver segmentation? What is the relation between the speed of stepping motor and pulse frequency?
Due to the unique structure of the stepping motor, it is marked with "inherent step Angle of the motor" when leaving the factory (for example, 0.9°/1.8°, indicating that the rotation Angle of each step of the half-step is 0.9° and that of the whole step is 1.8°).
However, in many precision control and occasions, the whole step Angle is too large, affecting the control accuracy, and vibration is too large, so many steps are required to complete a motor natural step Angle, which is the so-called subdivision drive, the electronic device that can achieve this function is called the subdivision driver.
Applications of stepper motor driver
It can be applied in a variety of small scale automation equipment and instruments, such as labeling machine, cutting machine, packing machine, drawing machine, engraving machine, CNC machine and so on. It always performs well when it is used in equipment which requires for low-vibration, low-noise, high-precision and high-velocity.
