FAQ:

1. Must the plane of the object be perpendicular to the light?

Usually, precise ranging requires the cooperation of total reflection prism, while the range finder used in house measurement is directly measured by smooth wall reflection, mainly because the distance is relatively close and the signal intensity reflected by light is large enough. As you can see, it's better to be vertical, otherwise the return signal is too weak to get the exact distance.

2. Is it okay if the plane of the object under test is diffuse reflection?

Usually, it is also possible to use thin plastic sheets as reflectors in practical projects to solve the serious problem of diffuse reflection.

3. The difference between ultrasonic ranging and laser ranging?

Ultrasound ranging accuracy is relatively low, and it is seldom used now. The accuracy of laser rangefinder can reach 1 millimeter error, which is suitable for various high precision measurement purposes.
