Product Description

A rotary evaporator, known as rotavap as well, is an essential equipment widely used in many fields such as industrial field, chemical labratories and other fields.

The basic structure of a rotary evaporator
A rotary evaporator usually consists of several parts, including a motor unit, a vacuum system, a water or oil bath, a rotating flask, a receiving flask, condenser pipes and other components.

  • A motor unit can keep the rotating flask or the evaporation flask rotate at a constant speed.
  • A vacuum system can create a reduced pressure environment within the evaporator system. As well, it makes the pressure in the vacuum environment different from that in the atmosphere so that the continuous feeding is available.
  • A water or oil bath are used to heat the sample.
  • A rotating flask is heated thermostatically and can rotate at a constant speed. Then the material forms a large area of thin film on the inner surface of the flask. It has a higher evaporation efficiency.
  • A receiving flask can collect the distilling solvent after it recondenses.

The functions of a rotary evaporator
A rotary evaporator is an essential separation equipment, which can remove a valtile solvent from a liquid mixture through evaporation and condensation. For example, a rotary evaporator can be used to remove ethanol from the mixture of ethanol and cbd oil in order to improve the purity of cbd oil. Also, it can be used to remove water within fruit juice, in order to make the fruit juice have a higher concentration. It can be seen that a rotary evaporator has a great number of functions.
