This corten steel curved facade is fabricated upon the design of a Chinese artist, and installed in Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in 2009. It is conceptual to the Ideal State of secluded charm in ancient China. This 68 meters (223ft) long facade is made with corten steel for the exterior surface, known as weathering steel with good rust resistance, fitting in the watery environment, and Q355 carbon steel for interior structure. It possesses the value of both functionality and ornament. The facade is sinuous through the mountain and lake with shadow in water which makes it perfectly integrated with the surroundings, the mountains, plants, and waterfalls, adding wonderfulness a lot to viewing. The section down the mountain brings an experience of thrills but no danger. The whole facade is seemingly a natural fit in the garden where visitors can get various senses of attractions of biology, history and luxury, etc. With honor, the corten steel curved facade won award from BALI National Landscape in 2011 and award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2012.
