More details about Vacuum Fluorescent Module
A VFD module incorporates a controller, anode driver, grid driver and power supply circuit to make evaluation easy.
Perform a variety of display control functions using a simple command. Multiple interface options are available.
To accomodate customer specifications, we can do special orders for interface and software.
How does a VFD display works?
The Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) Display is basically a vacuum tube. Electrons are emitted from a cathode (filament) and are controlled by a grid. The voltage on the grid determines whether the electrons are repelled or allowed to collide with a phosphor coated anode.
How long does VFD last?
VFDs can last a long time -- most VCR screens display the time (albiet dimmed) for years happily. Make sure you are driving the filament with an AC waveform (you can use an inexpensive motor controller and a 555 timer to do this) to ensure molecules don't migrate only in one direction.
The CU-U series displays are all built with LCD compatible dimensions and HD44780 command sets. These displays are easy to read due to high contrast, have wide viewing angles and are easier to read at short and long distances. Additionally, VFD displays have a quick display response within the module’s temperature range of -40C to +85C. Noritake offers long term supply and engineering support with their products.
