Requirement/Limits:
The rate of nickel release from the metal components of products (e.g. wrist-watch cases, watch straps and tighteners; rivet buttons, tighteners, rivets, zippers and metal marks, when used in garments) coming into direct and prolonged contact with the skin shall be less than 0.5 μg/sq.cm/week.
NOTE:
1) If there is a non-nickel based coating, it shall be subjected to EN 12472 Simulation of Wear and Corrosion before testing.
2) This requirement refers to the EU Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 (REACH) and its amendments.
