EDI Module | Electrodeionization
EDI is a new type of ultra-pure water technology developed in the 1990s, Its development is a revolutionary advance in the history of pure water production technology. EDI can replace traditional ion exchange technology, produce stable deionized water. Unlike the hybrid ion exchange device, the EDI system does not require chemical regeneration, and does not have to be stopped for Adding resins or chemical regeneration. Therefore, EDI can achieve continuous production of water, and water quality is stable.Meanwhile, equipment investment and operating expenses are minimized.

Compared with the traditional ion exchange method (DI), EDI has the following characteristics:

(1) It can continuously produce ultrapure water with stable water quality;

(2) It does not require acid or alkali regeneration, saving acid and alkali consumption and corresponding storage and regeneration facilities;

(3) It avoids the harm of hazardous chemicals to operators;

(4) It does not produce recycled wastewater, the process is clean, and no wastewater treatment facilities are required;

(5) It has a compact structure and occupies a small area;

(6) It is simple to operate and has low labor intensity.

The EDI module utilizes the mixed ion exchange resin filled in the fresh water chamber to adsorb anions and cations in the feed water. At the same time, these adsorbed ions undergo lateral electromigration under the action of DC voltage, and pass through the anion and cation exchange membranes into the concentrated water chamber and are removed. On the other hand, in the direction of feed water movement, since ions are continuously removed, the conductivity of the solution becomes lower and lower. Under the action of DC voltage, water will dissociate to produce enough H+ and OH- ions to maintain the current of the system. In addition to undergoing lateral electromigration, the H+ and OHT produced by the dissociation of water will also regenerate the resin adsorbed with ions on the spot, thereby achieving continuous deep desalination.
