The serum separator gel/coagulant tube is for obtaining high quality serum samples in biochemical, immunological, and serological tests in clinical settings. The serum separator gel is composed of inert components, which are part of a polyester-based proprietary formulation. The gel forms a physical barrier between serum or plasma and blood cells during centrifugation, thus keeping the purity of the serum.

After collection, the serum separator gel/coagulant tube should be inverted 3 to 5 times to adequately mix the plasma with coagulant, allowed 18 minutes clotting time, and centrifuged for 5 to 10 minutes at 3000-3500 RPM in a swing bucket centrifuge.
