What is the HFCWO?

The inflatable chest strap and the air pulse host are connected by a tube, which quickly inflates and deflates, squeezes and relaxes the chest wall. This process is called High-frequency chest wall oscillation system expectoration (HFCWO) technology. Gently squeeze and relax the chest wall to produce vibrations, which can loosen secretions and change the physical properties of mucus . The positive pressure acting on the chest wall produces exhaled air. After the pressure is released, an inspiratory airflow is produced, which changes the shear force on the mucus surface. Stimulate the oscillation frequency of cilia through chest wall oscillation.

How does the equipment work ?
The equipment includes an air pulse host, an airbag vest (chest strap) and an air flow pipeline. The main unit inflates and deflates quickly, and the patient’s chest wall is vibrated by the airbag vest (chest strap), which makes the viscous sputum loose, fall off, dilute, and gather, and at the same time stimulate the cilia on the airway wall to swing, and the sputum is transfer to the trachea and oral cavity.

Ø1.The maximum output pressure of the expectoration system should be greater than 10kPa; Ø2.The maximum oscillation frequency of the expectoration system is 20Hz, the frequency step is continuously adjustable at 1Hz and the error should not be greater than 1Hz; Ø3.The working time of the expectoration system is adjustable within the range of 1～99min, and the timing error is less than ±5%; Ø4.The expectoration system can set various parameters, including working mode, intensity and frequency, etc.; Ø5.The maximum noise produced by the expectoration system during normal operation should be less than 85dB (A); Ø6.The sputum discharge system will give an alarm with a red light when the fan malfunctions or other causes the temperature inside the machine is higher than 85°C.
