Haminol 385 resin is a new high imino-partially methyl etherified melamine resin with a low degree of alkylation, using demineralized water as a solvent, and fast curing without the need for strong acid catalysts. It reacts with polymers containing hydroxyl, amide and carboxyl groups. The resin has good solubility with water, high tendency to self-condense, and can be used to increase the acidity of thermoplastic aqueous polymers sufficiently to catalyze the reaction under normal baking conditions; 120-150 degrees Celsius, 15 minutes.
