Thyristors, however, must be passively turned off and require time to finish this action, making IGBT transistor have a higher inverting power factor (≥97%) and a higher furnace voltage under the same input voltage (380V) , IGBT inverter voltage is around 2800V. Traditional thyristor inverter voltage is four times lower than IGBT, it is only 750V - 800V, besides, wiring line loss is low and this can save power up to 15% .

Germany's Infineon's innovative IGBT5 and XT technologies were first applied to expand the well-known PrimePACK power density, increasing power density by 25% compared to the fourth generation technology (2012-2016). It also extended its life to 10 times longer and current covering range increases to 1800A/1700V.
