The gas diameters encountered by the dispersed droplets in normal chemical operations are about 0.1 to 5000 μm. Generally, the particle size is 100 μm due to the fast sedimentation speed, and the problem of particle separation is easy to solve. Usually, the diameter is larger than 50, and the droplets with a diameter larger than 50 μm can be separated by gravity sedimentation; the above droplets of 5 μm can be separated by inertial collision and centrifugal separation; for smaller fine mist, try to aggregate to form larger particles, or use a fiber filter and electrostatic mist eliminators.
The wire mesh demister is mainly used to separate droplets with a diameter larger than 3μm to 5μm. When the gas with the mist rises at a certain speed and passes through the wire mesh on the grille, due to the inertia of the rise of the mist, the mist and the mist are separated. The filaments collide and attach to the surface of the filament. The mist on the surface of the filaments spreads further, and the gravity of the mist itself settles, causing the mist to form large droplets and flow along the filaments to the interweaving part. Due to the wettability of the filament, the surface tension of the liquid and the capillary action of the filament make the droplet larger and larger until its own gravity exceeds the combined force of the rising buoyancy of the gas and the surface tension of the liquid, separates and falls, and flows into the downstream equipment of the container. As long as the gas velocity and other conditions are properly selected, after the gas passes through the wire mesh demister, the defoaming efficiency can reach more than 97%, and the purpose of completely removing the mist can be achieved.
