Mesh Pad Demister Introduction
Wire mesh demisters (mist eliminators) are used to remove liquid particles from flue gases, exhaust gases, and vapors. AHS can have extensive practical experience in absorbers, desalination plants, gaskets, sulfuric acid plants, distillation, rectification plants, etc., with a design range of up to 18 m in diameter, and achieve ideal separation results. Meanwhile, the wire mesh droplet eliminators (mist eliminators) designed by AHS are made of fine wire with different mesh widths, usually between 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm in diameter. The specific surface, depending on the type, is between approx. 150 m2/m3 to approx. 1100 m2/m3.
The demister pads work by coalescing smaller liquid droplets by obstructing their path. Obstruction of the path causes increased collisions among the liquid droplets. Most of these droplets stick together and form bigger droplets that are too heavy to rise with the gas stream. Thus the more significant liquid drops drop down in the pool of liquid below. The gas stream is not affected by the obstruction in the path and escapes through the top vapor outlet. The obstruction in the path of liquid droplets can be achieved by a variety of geometries. Demister pad may be a mesh-type coalescer, vane pack, or other structure intended to aggregate the mist into droplets that are heavy enough to separate from the vapor stream.
