1. Desiption:
Aramid 1414, which has a golden-yellow appearance and looks like shiny metallic threads, is actually a liquid crystal polymer made of long, rigid molecules. Because its molecular chain is highly oriented along the length direction, and has a strong interchain binding force, thus endowing the fiber with unprecedented high strength, high modulus and high temperature resistance.
The discovery of aramid 1414 is considered an important milestone in the development of materials. Arlene 1414 has extremely high strength, more than 28 g/denier, is 5 ~ 6 times of high quality steel, modulus is 2 ~ 3 times of steel or glass fiber, toughness is 2 times of steel, and weight is only 1/5 of steel. (The strength and toughness of aramid 1414 also makes it extremely difficult to cut and process, requiring expensive special tools).
