Gabions, also known as Gabion Mesh, Green Grid, Gabion Retaining Wall, Reynolds Pad, Reinforced Gabion, Gabion Cage, and the like, are a newly developed material used increasingly in traffic, water conservancy, municipal, garden, soil and water conservation, and other engineering projects.
Gabions are made from corrosion-resistant, high-strength, low-carbon galvanized steel wire, or 5-10% thin alloy coated steel wire (or homogeneous coated polymer steel wire). These are twisted and meshed into hexagonal shapes, with double hinge lengths no less than 5 cm, in order to maintain the protective coating of the steel wire.
Gabion Mesh can be arranged into boxes as per engineering design requirements, and attached with blocks and stones, forming one unit used in embankment and roadways as a new engineering technology.

Ecological grid consists of corrosion resistance high-strength low carbon galvanized steel wires or 5%~ 10% thin alloy coated steel wires or homogenous coated polymer steel wires which are machine-twisted to form hexagonal mesh. The wire diameter ranges from 1.5 to 5.0 mm. The mesh size of this wire varies from a quarter to eight, and the aperture ranges from 60*80 *100 *120 120*150 160*180. This product comes from Anping, Hebei and it has many functions, such as coastal defense engineering, river protection and garden landscape. It also goes through a surface treatment process, that is to coat it with PVC plastic.
Stone cage net is mainly used to guide the river water, since rivers tend to follow the path of least resistance, which is their natural flow channel. In the event of a flood – with its massive, rapid-moving water – the water will carry it along this inherent channel, and its force may even divert it from its original path. This can cause tremendous damage to the embankment or channel.
In order to reduce this erosion, stone cage cages or stone cage mats are placed inside the embankment or near the edges of the channel. When the turbulent river strikes these barriers, it will be deflected away from the embankment or channel, protecting it from harm.
The river is also turned towards its natural path around river bends. With the stone cage cages or mats in place, the river will adjust its course to follow the natural flow of the river. This in turn will help guide river and its water ely and securely.
