Generally speaking, the supporting capability for an axial load; and at the same time, the smaller the supporting capability for a radial load.

A single row angular contact ball bearing is suitable for carrying axial-load acting in one direction only; as a result, they are usually used in pairs or multi-arrangement in many applications.
