Production process

1. Raw material preparation
Smelting of molten iron:
Use high-quality pig iron, scrap steel and other raw materials to melt in a medium frequency electric furnace or cupola to ensure that the chemical composition of the molten iron meets the requirements of the ductile iron casting process.
Spheroidizing treatment:
Add spheroidizing agent (such as magnesium or rare earth alloy) to the molten iron, and transform the graphite from flake to spherical through spheroidizing reaction, thereby improving the strength, toughness and impact resistance of cast iron.
Inoculation treatment:
In order to improve the structure and performance of castings, inoculants are added to the molten iron after spheroidization to improve the fluidity of the molten iron and the quality of the castings.
2. Modeling stage
Mold making:
According to the design drawings of the manhole cover, the mold is made of wood, aluminum alloy or resin. The quality of the mold directly affects the dimensional accuracy and appearance of the manhole cover.
Sand casting:
Use sand molding technology for molding, and commonly used molding methods include manual molding, mechanical molding or resin sand molding. The sand mold must have good strength, air permeability and thermal stability.
3. Casting and molding
Iron casting:
Pour the treated spheroidized iron into the sand mold for casting. The pouring temperature and speed must be strictly controlled to prevent the occurrence of casting defects such as pores and slag inclusions.
Cooling and solidification:
After pouring, the casting needs to be naturally cooled to a certain temperature in the sand mold to make it completely solidified.
4. Cleaning and grinding
Sand removal and cleaning:
The cooled casting is taken out of the sand mold, and the excess sand is cleaned up mechanically or manually.
Grinding and finishing:
The pouring head, flash and surface of the casting are polished and trimmed to ensure that the appearance of the manhole cover is smooth and neat and the size is accurate.
5. Heat treatment
Annealing:
The casting is placed in a high-temperature furnace for annealing to release internal stress and improve the toughness and uniformity of the material.
6. Surface treatment
Sandblasting:
The surface of the casting is treated with a sandblasting machine to remove oxide scale and impurities and improve the surface finish.
Coating protection:
Spray or dip the surface of the manhole cover (such as asphalt paint, epoxy resin coating, etc.) to enhance corrosion resistance and wear resistance, while improving aesthetics.
7. Inspection and quality control
Appearance inspection:
Check whether there are cracks, pores, shrinkage holes and other defects on the surface of the manhole cover.
Dimension measurement:
Ensure that the dimensions and tolerances of the manhole cover meet the design requirements.
Performance testing:
Test the mechanical properties of the manhole cover such as compression, bending and impact resistance to ensure that its strength and durability meet relevant standards (such as EN124 standard).
8. Finished product assembly and packaging
Matching the manhole cover with the manhole ring:
Assemble the manhole cover with the manhole ring to ensure the sealing and stability of both.
Packaging and storage:
Package, number and store qualified finished products and wait for shipment.
9. Additional processes (optional)
Customized processing:
Add anti-slip texture, company logo or other customized designs to the surface of the manhole cover according to customer needs.
Intelligent device integration:
Embed intelligent sensor modules in manhole covers to monitor manhole cover position, anti-theft, water accumulation alarm and other functions.
