This is 57mm hybrid stepper motor with optical encoder at the bottom.
57mm hybrid stepper motor is 1.8° step angle, also known as NEMA 23 motor.
This motor is widely used for high precision control.
In order to reach closed-loop, for higher precision control. An encoder is required to provide feedback signal.
The encoder used is optical encoder, and we have different resolution including 500, 1000, 2000 PPR and more.
The encoder contains three channels: including signal A, signal B and signal Index.
The motor’s size is 57mm, and we have different height for option.
With bigger height, motor has bigger torque, bigger weight and higher cost.

About hybrid stepper motor:
Hybrid stepper motors are in general square shape, and a stepper motor can be identified by its unique outer shape.
A hybrid stepper motor has 1.8°step angle(200 step/revolution) or 0.9°step angle (400 steps/revolution). Step angle is determined by tooth number on rotor’s laminations.
There are to ways to name a hybrid stepper motor:
By Metric unit (unit: mm) or by Imperial unit (unit: inch)
For example, a 42mm motor = a 1.7 inch stepper motor.
So a 42mm motor can also be called as NEMA 17 motor.
Explanation of hybrid stepper motor’s name:
For example, 42HS40 stepper motor:
42 means the size is 42mm, so it’s a NEMA17 motor.
HS means Hybrid Stepper motor.
40 means the height is 40mm motor.
