Background introduction

The vast majority of heavy-duty escalators use the step chain design of roller outside link. These kinds of escalator products are mostly used in places with high rise and heavy passenger flow, such as subways, transportation hubs and other places. Therefore, there are strong requirements for the safety and production quality control, the step chain which is the critical and safety component in the escalator drive system. After perennial use, if the step chain has worn out and reached its design service life, it must be replaced timely and propertly.

The step chain pitch (P) is 133.33mm, step distance (step pitch) is 400mm (3P = step distance). The step is fixing with step chain via clamping bush. The step chain lubrication is used oil.

The step chain is connected to its left and right sides by hollow axles. This is the detachable design structure for transportation and it can be split into left, right side link chain and connect axles. The step chain roller is outside link and locate on the side of the step. Normally, the step chain replacement is not include hollow axles which can be retained for used. If need to replace by new axles, it need to add in order

​The step-chain rollers are made of hydrolytic resistant polyurethane. And the roller hub material is using plastic as standard and option can select metal base on customer required. The rollers pass eligibility tests include anti-hydrolysis test, oil hydrolysis test, and life time run test 5000hours .

The pitch 133.33 roller outside link step chain is widely used in heavy-duty escalators and has a step distance of 400 mm. It is suitable for type 9700 escalators.
