Tantalum has a melting point as high as 2996°C and is mainly found in tantalite ore. Tantalum has moderate hardness and ductility, and can be drawn into filaments to make thin foils. Its thermal expansion coefficient is very small. Tantalum has excellent chemical properties and is highly resistant to corrosion. No matter under cold or hot conditions, it does not react to hydrochloric acid, concentrated nitric acid and "aqua regia". Can be used to make evaporation vessels, etc.
