Specifications and Standards:
Nickel 200 pipes and tubes are typically produced according to various international standards, including:
- ASTM B161 / ASME SB161
- ASTM B163 / ASME SB163
- ASTM B725 / ASME SB725
Mechanical Properties:
- Tensile Strength: 67 ksi (462 MPa) min
- Yield Strength (0.2% offset): 21 ksi (145 MPa) min
- Elongation: 40% min
- Hardness: Approximately 70 HRB (Rockwell B Hardness)
Manufacturing Process:
Nickel 200 pipes and tubes are produced by various methods including seamless and welded processes:
- Seamless Pipes/Tubes: Manufactured by extrusion, rotary piercing, or other similar processes to ensure a high-quality product with no weld seams.
- Welded Pipes/Tubes: Produced by forming and welding the material, followed by heat treatment to ensure the desired properties.
Dimensional Range:
- Outer Diameter (OD): Typically ranges from 0.5 inches to 8 inches.
- Wall Thickness: Available in schedules ranging from SCH 5S to SCH XXS, depending on the application requirements.
Surface Finish:
- Pipes and tubes can be supplied with various surface finishes, including pickled, polished, or with a specific roughness as required by the application. Other finishes like bright annealed or ground finishes can also be provided.
Heat Treatment:
- Nickel 200 can be annealed to restore ductility after cold working and to achieve the desired mechanical properties. Annealing is typically done at temperatures between 704°C (1300°F) and 871°C (1600°F).
