White Coloured Powder Zinc Stearate Powder Used as A Flatting Agent In Paint
COMPOSITION
Zinc Stearate is a white coloured poweder. It is insoluble in water, but dissolves well in aromatic compounds like benzene and chlorinated hydrocarbons on heating. In fact, zinc stearate repels water (hydrophobic). It is the zinc salt of stearic acid. It is insoluble in alcohol and ethers. It is a very powerful mold resease agent. Zinc stearate does not contain any electrolyte.

PROPERTIES
Zinc Stearate in coating applications is an excellent flatting agent and sanding aid for lacquers and lacquer sanding sealers and is easily dispersed by stirring. When used as a flatting agent in paint, it also aids in pigment dispersions.
Application
The film-forming substances of PU are mainly poly isocyanate resin (curing agent) and alkyd resins, which forming film by curing agent - NCO and alkyd resin - OH crosslinking reaction .PU is curing crosslinking coatings . Because its high solid content, the wettability is better. Therefore, appropriate addition of zinc stearate is 2%to 5%in PU, adding overload will affect the adhesion and transparency of the primer, even caused blushing.
