Quality Control

Quality Control is known as QC and focuses on identifying a defect. QC ensures that the approaches, techniques, methods and processes are designed in the project are following correctly. QC activities monitor and verify that the project deliverables meet the defined quality standards.

How to Implement Quality Control in Our Manufacturing

To implement an effective quality control program, first create and document our approach to quality control. This includes:

  1. Defining the quality standards for each product
  2. Selecting the quality control method
  3. Defining the number of products/batch that will be tested
  4. Creating and training employees for quality control
  5. Creating a communication system for reporting defects or potential issues.

Next, we create procedures for handling defects. Consider the following:

  1. Will batches be rejected if defected items are found?
  2. Will there be further testing and potential repair work involved?
  3. Will production be halted to ensure that there are no more defective products created?
  4. How will new product versions be handled?

Finally, use a method like 5-Whys to identify the root cause of the defect, make any needed changes, and ensure our products are defect free.
